FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people ask most. Still curious? Ask Digby.
What is Digby?
A Canadian-built AI assistant. It answers, writes, researches, analyses files and code, and works across your tools — on open-weight models running on Canadian hardware.
Where is my data stored?
In Canada — Montréal, Canada Central.
Does my data leave Canada?
Stored data and the models that write answers stay in Canada. A web search sends the search query to a search service, a connected app talks to that app, and the site’s analytics tags send usage data to Google and Meta.
Which AI models does Digby use?
Custom-tuned open models, picked per question, with a different model checking important answers.
Is Digby free?
Guest chat and accounts are free. Heavier features such as deep research have daily limits.
How does Digby keep answers accurate?
It searches the live web when facts are time-sensitive, cites sources, and has an independent model check contested or high-stakes answers. “Dig deeper” escalates any answer further.
Does Digby train AI on my conversations?
No. Your chats, memory and files are never used to train or fine-tune AI models.
Can I delete my data?
Yes — conversations, memory facts, or your whole account.
Is Digby safe for kids?
Digby Kids is a separate, parent-created experience with strict guardrails, no ads or tracking, and a Socratic tutor.
Does Digby work in French?
Oui. Ask in French and Digby answers in French.
Can my organisation self-host Digby?
Yes, with Docker Compose and any OpenAI-compatible model server.
How is Digby different from ChatGPT?
Your data is stored in Canada for every user, answers come from open-weight models on Canadian hardware, and important answers are checked by a second model.
